There is only one of these 3rd great-grandparents that I have a picture of: Paul Peltier.

Map showing the areas in Quebec where my 3rd great-grandparents were baptized1

Using Sorel as the starting point, it is 195 miles to Saint-Roch des Aulnaies, 27 miles to Yamachiche, 12 miles to Saint-Cuthbert, 11 miles to Yamaska, 30 miles to Saint-Sulpice, 30 miles to L’Assomption and 20 miles to Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu.

Although Joseph Giguere was baptized in Saint-Roch des Aulnaies, his family had moved to Saint-Cuthbert by about 1804, so all 16 of these 3rd great-grandparents lived in the 7 areas shown on the map below Trois-Rivieres.

There were 3 of these 3rd great-grandparents that immigrated to the United States: Jean Garceau, Marie Ann Gingras and Paul Peltier.  The others all lived out their lives in Quebec.  Of these 3 only Paul Peltier lived long enough for his great-granddaughter (my grandmother) Ellen Lucy Peltier to have possibly known him.  Paul died when Ellen was 10 years old.

A few of these 3rd great-grandparents have been mentioned in previous posts, but I will write more about all of them at a later date.

Thanks for visiting, come back soon,
Cindy
