Charles Vadnais and his son Charles
Jean Baptiste Vadnais, my 3rd great-granduncle (Lake Vadnais was named after him), and his wife Marie Louise Gingras had 10 children: 4 girls and 6 boys. Their 9th child, Charles Vadnais (my 1st cousin 4 times removed) was born on August 13, 1857 in Minnesota.
Charles grew up and married Clara Marie Carpenter in 1882 and together they had 13 children: 5 girls and 8 boys. Their 5th child, Charles Louis Vadnais (my 3rd cousin twice removed) was born on October 12, 1888.

The following St. Paul Pioneer Press newspaper article talks about Charles Vadnais and his son Charles. In it, both Charles Sr. and Charles Jr. are accused of participating in the assault of their neighbor, Corneille Ghesquire. Based on the injuries suffered by the neighbor it appears that the quarrel escalated and became a bit heated. Charles was 55 years old and Charles Louis was 23 years old at the time the article was written.

I don’t know whether or not Charles and son Charles were ever convicted.
