Circa 1908 – Sophie Dupre Mitchell and Stella Dupre
Stella was the daughter of Adlore and Mathilda (Vadnais) Dupre.  Mathilda, or Tille, was my grandfather Adlore Vadnais’ aunt, my great-grandaunt, which makes Stella my 1st cousin 2 times removed.
I assumed that Sophie and Stella are somehow related, but I didn’t know how because there isn’t a Sophie Dupre or Sophie Dupre Mitchell in my tree.  To find the connection to Sophie, I spent a day adding, and verifying, parts of my tree.  What I discovered is that Sophie and Stella share the same great-grandparents, Francois Dupre and Marie Daunais.  That makes Sophie and Stella second cousins.  However, Francois Dupre and Marie Daunais are not my relatives, but Sophie is a relative of mine, because her grandmother Marie Garceau was my 2nd great-grandaunt, which means that Sophie is my 2nd cousin 2 times removed.
I lucked out in finding these connections because, unlike Vadnais relations where having the Vadnais surname guarantees you are a relative, I do not know if the same is true for all Dupres; chances are, they are not all related.
Circa 1920 – James William Dupre Sr. (1900-1968)
James, my 1st cousin 2 times removed, was the only surviving son of Adlore and Mathilda (Vadnais) Dupre to live to adulthood.  Stella (in the first picture) and Eva were his older sisters.  Their other siblings, Lawrence and Joseph had died at 18 years old and 10 months old respectively.  James married Mildred Blood on August 13, 1924 and together they had 2 children: Marguerite Anne and James William Jr..  James Sr. spent his entire career working for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a brakeman and a freight conductor.  From about 1927 on, the family resided at 3854 Aldrich Avenue N. in Minneapolis.  James passed away on July 16, 1968.  Both of his sisters survived him.

I don’t know if James aspired to be a boxer.
