A number of relatives have served the White Bear Lake area as members of the White Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department.  Here’s a list of those members.

Howard Bloom (husband of my grandaunt Vina (Peltier)) served 46 years from March 22, 1910 to January 18, 1956.

Walter Berg (husband of my first cousin once removed, Gladys (Bloom)) served 31 years from March 10, 1941 to March 22, 1972. He was the fire chief for 21 years (1946-1967).

Robert Campbell (husband of my aunt, Anna Mae (Vadnais)) served 20 years from November 7, 1966 to January 1, 1987.

Louis O. Peltier (my half first cousin, 3 times removed) served 22 years from January 13, 1919 to March 11, 1941.

Doug Peltier (my half third cousin, once removed) served ?? years from January 1, 1979 until 20??.

Paul Peltier (my half third cousin, once removed) served ?? years from January 1, 1984 until 20??.

Mark Peltier (my half second cousin, twice removed) served 35 years from September 13, 1948 to January 10, 1984. My father, Jack Vadnais, told me that when he and Mark were young, no matter where in White Bear Lake they were playing that when Mark heard the fire bell he would drop everything and take off running toward the fire house; he was destined to become a firefighter.

William Riley (my second cousin) served 21 years from December 10, 1962 to January 2, 1984.

Rick Schwalbach (stepson of my uncle, Gordy Vadnais) served 25 years from April 14, 1975 to December 31, 2000.

George Vadnais (my brother) served about 2 years around 2007-2008.

Gordy Vadnais (my uncle) served 39 years from August 8, 1949 to February 1, 1988.  He was the fire chief for 20 years (1968-1988).

Scott Vadnais (my first cousin once removed) served 11 years from July 1, 1990 to November 1, 2001.

Terry Vadnais (my first cousin) served 30 years from June 10, 1963 to June 30, 1993.

Tim Vadnais (my first cousin) served 42 years from September 1, 1974 to December 30, 2016.  He was the fire chief for 28 years (1988-2016).
