The article about cutting ice from Lake Vadnais refers to a dispute where Louis Labort [LaBore] and A. J. Peltier threatened to tear down the city’s fence to get at the water (ice) on Lake Vadnais.  The people named in the article all lived close to the lake and I am sure that they had always cut their ice, for refrigeration, from the lake.  St. Paul’s water supply or not, they fought for what they believed was a right they should continue to have, and won.
Three of the people named in the suit are relatives: Louis LaBore is my 5th cousin 3 times removed, A. J. (Albert Joseph) Peltier is my great-grandfather and George Belland is my 1st cousin 3 times removed.

Thanks for visiting, come back soon,
Cynthia
