The family picnic each summer is a gathering of the descendants of Adlore and Ellen Vadnais. I recently ran a report showing all of the descendants of Adlore and Ellen. Currently it includes 6 generations.
After looking over the document of descendants, I thought it might be interesting to count the number of people in each generation. I should preface the counts by saying that spouses and step-children are not considered descendants. The first few generations are easy to count, but after that the numbers increase quickly.
Generation 1: Adlore and Ellen (Peltier) Vadnais
Generation 2: George Albert (12 people)
Charles Adlore
Lawrence Thomas
Henry Woodrow
Florence Eugenia
Richard Andrew
Mona Celestine
Leona Rose
John Russell
Marguerite Marie
Gordon Francis
Anna Mae Ruth
Generation 3: Includes all of the children of those in generation 2 (42 people)
Generation 4: Includes all of the children of those in generation 3 (84 people)
Generation 5: Includes all of the children of those in generation 4 (160 people)
Generation 6: Includes all of the children of those in generation 5 (so far there are 59 people)
Adlore and Ellen have 357 descendants (the sum of generations 2 through 6) according to the data compiled thus far. From what I can tell, 28 of these descendants have passed away.
Some facts about the most current generation:
So far there is just one marriage that has occurred in the 6th generation: Tatum Williams married Zach Collins on November 8, 2024. Any others?
There is also at least one member of the 6th generation living in the White Bear area (White Bear Township or the City of White Bear Lake). That person, and there may be more, is a part of the 8th generation of the Vadnais/Peltier family in the White Bear area. Our family has been in the area for about 180 years.
The most recent addition to the 6th generation was Alexander Sand born on April 22, 2025, the child of Robert Sand and Eleanor Ascheman. Have any more been born since April?
The numbers continue to increase. At some point in the near future generation 7 will begin when a member of generation 6 gives birth.
Thanks for visiting, come back soon,
Cynthia

That is amazing. Love that our family is still going strong.
Hello, my name is Gregory William Vadnais, born Nov. 2, 1964. I’m the youngest of nine siblings. My parents were George Henri Vadnais, 1919-1972 and Dafrose Cecelia (Vadnais) Vadnais , 1919-2003
Hello Gregory,
I see that we are 7th cousins once removed. Your 7th great-grandparents are my 6th great-grandparents – Jean Baptiste Vadnais and Marie Anne Mousseau. Nice to meet you.
Your family tree is very interesting (I looked at a tree on Ancestry built by a Pierre Vadnais). My family tree has a lot of additional relationships going on, but in my tree I generally stumble on these “double” relationships. Yours was more evident since its your parents who are 2nd cousins.
Cynthia
We’re so grateful for AJ and Ellen’s love and marriage. What a beautiful blessing our family is! Thank you for sharing this, Cynthia!
